Nevada to Nicaragua

Nevada to Nicaragua

This summer, a group of students from the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine will be traveling with organizers from Bridges to Community to Siuna, Nicaragua to provide medical care to underserved communities. Bridges to Community is a non–profit organization that has been established in Nicaragua for more than 20 years. Through this program, students will assist in building infrastructure to promote better health, organize workshops to educate locals about preventative medicine, as well as establish a free clinic to provide health care. The students will provide all of these services over a two-week period; however, Bridges to Community will remain in Nicaragua, establishing accessible and continuous health care through other volunteers even after the students leave. This allows sustainable changes to be made in a short amount of time, while offering medical students a unique learning and humanitarian opportunity.

The students traveling to Nicaragua are fully responsible for the cost of their travel and the cost of all medical supplies. The trip costs $1,500 per person, plus airfare. Any donations are greatly appreciated.
